GOOD ENOUGH PART THREE: FORGET GOOD ENOUGH AND GO FOR GREAT ENOUGH

Ephesians 1:18-20 New Living Translation (NLT)

18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.
19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.

There is a classic story trope that I think every one of us dreamed about as a little child. The story of the secret hero. The boy or girl who secretly has super powers and doesn’t realize it until the moment they need it. Then, suddenly, when they are poised to become the hero their powers activate and they save the day. We all want to be the one filled with unbelievable power.

The good news here, is that we can be that one, and many of us already are that one. In fact we are more like the hero of those stories than we realize because we have immense power inside of us and we just don’t know it and we just don’t use it.

We waste tons of time talking about how we are already good enough to be anything we want. The media tells us that we don’t need to be anything more than we already are. But the Bible tells us a different story. For every believer who casts aside who they were born as and is reborn in Christ, we are filled with the same power that rose Jesus from the dead AND seated Him in the heavenly realms.

Take a moment to think about that. Give yourself away and in return be filled with hope and with the power of God. I know what choice I am making.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. How much power do you think you have? If you are not a believer, where do you get your power from? If you are a believer, where you do you get your power from?

  1. As a Christian, with access to the same power that God used to resurrect Jesus, what kind of good can you do with your power? Why did God give you access to such immense power? What purpose and plan of ministry has He placed on your life?
